The Productivity Places Program (PPP) is a core element of the Australian Government’s Skilling Australia for the Future policy. It aims to address higher level skill shortages and increase workforce participation and productivity. Both existing workers and job seekers are eligible to participate in the program.
The Australian and State/Territory Governments aim to provide a total of 711,000 training places nationally for existing workers and job seekers over five years commencing 2008.
It is expected that approximately 20 per cent of the total training places will be allocated in Queensland, based on the state’s share of the working age population.
The Department of Education and Training will target training that is listed on the Queensland Government’s Phase III Priority Occupations and Qualifications List and that has been identified as a priority by the state industry training engagement bodies.
