Think you already have the skills for a qualification and want to be acknowledged by gaining a Nationally Recognised Qualification without completing the full training and assessment for that program?
You may be eligible for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), enabling you to gain a qualification without completing a standard training program or course. Your skills and knowledge that would have otherwise been developed through undertaking training and assessment – may have been gained through some other form of study, work experience or life experience.
EIM Training can formally recognise a student’s existing level of skill and knowledge in two ways:
• recognition of prior learning (RPL)
• credit transfer.
Recognition of prior learning
RPL is an assessment process that reviews your prior work experience/ learning to determine the extent to which you have already achieved required learning outcomes, competency outcome, towards partial or total completion of a qualification.
RPL recognises this prior knowledge and experience and measures it against the course in which you are enrolled. If you possess some of the skills and/or knowledge taught in the course you may not need to complete all of the units.
RPL has many benefits:
• in most cases courses are completed in much shorter time
• study loads and costs are reduced
• by identifying your current competencies, RPL can effectively target training requirements.
Credit transfer
Credit transfer allows you to count relevant, successfully completed studies – achieved at TAFE colleges, accredited private providers, professional organisations or enterprises and universities – towards your current course or qualifications at EIM Training.
